The Value of Preventive Care
Even with a solid brushing and flossing routine at home, there are areas of your mouth that a regular toothbrush simply can't reach. Professional cleanings remove built-up plaque and tartar that, if left untreated, can contribute to cavities, gum inflammation, and other oral health concerns over time.
Paired with a thorough exam, your routine visit gives us the chance to catch small problems early — before they become more complex and difficult to treat. Preventive dental care plays an important role in supporting both oral health and overall wellness.
Book Your Preventive Visit
How Often Should You Come in?
Most patients benefit from a professional cleaning and exam every six months. However, depending on your individual oral health history, risk factors, and gum health, we may recommend more frequent visits to help maintain long-term oral health.
If it's been a while since your last cleaning, don't worry — we're a judgment-free zone. Our team will help you move forward with a personalized approach based on your needs, comfort level, and goals.
The Tru Approach to Preventive Care
At TRU Dentistry SoCo, we believe preventive care should feel thoughtful, personalized, and unrushed. We take time to answer questions thoroughly, understand your concerns, and help patients feel informed about their oral health — with the goal of helping patients leave feeling confident about their care.
We also know that dental anxiety is real. If you're nervous about your visit, just let us know. Our team works hard to create an experience that feels calm, supportive, and comfortable throughout your visit.
What Happens at Your Visit
Professional Cleaning (Prophylaxis)
Our hygienist will carefully remove plaque and tartar buildup from all surfaces of your teeth, including including areas that are difficult to clean effectively at home. Your teeth will then be polished to remove surface stains and leave your smile feeling fresh and smooth.
Comprehensive Exam
Dr. Kostiuk or Dr. John will perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and surrounding oral tissues. We check for signs of decay, gum disease, bite issues, and anything else that may need attention — and we take time to explain our findings clearly and answer any questions you may have.
X-Rays
Dental X-rays allow us to see what’s happening beneath the surface — between teeth and below the gumline — where certain concerns may not be visible during a clinical exam alone. X-rays are recommended based on clinical findings, dental history, and diagnostic needs.
Oral Cancer Screening
Every exam includes a routine screening for early signs of oral cancer. This quick, painless check is an important part of your overall health picture.
Personalized Recommendations
Before you leave, we'll share any findings and discuss next steps — whether that's scheduling a follow-up treatment or simply continuing with your current routine. Our goal is to provide clear recommendations, answer questions thoughtfully, and help patients make informed decisions about their care.
Insurance & Membership Options
We are in-network with Delta Dental and will submit claims on your behalf for all other insurance providers to help patients utilize available out-of-network benefits whenever applicable.
For patients without insurance we offer the TRU Club™ — our in-house membership plan starting at just $189/year.
