What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. As the area heals, the implant naturally integrates with the surrounding bone, creating a stable foundation for a custom crown placed on top.
Unlike bridges or dentures, implants are anchored directly into the jawbone. This allows them to feel exceptionally stable and helps preserve the bone beneath the missing tooth over time. This makes it one of the most durable and natural-feeling tooth replacement options available today.

Are Implants Right for You?
Most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth are candidates for dental implants. The key requirements for implant success are sufficient jawbone density to support the implant and healthy gum tissue free of active infection.
Factors we evaluate when assessing implant candidacy include:
- Adequate bone volume and density in the implant site
- Healthy gums with no active periodontal disease
- Good overall health — certain medical conditions and medications can affect healing
- Smoking significantly affects healing and increases the risk of implant complications, so we’ll discuss tobacco use carefully during treatment planning.
- Commitment to proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits following placement
A Multi-Stage Treatment, Worth Every Step
Consultation & Treatment Planning.
We begin with a comprehensive evaluation including a 3D CBCT scan and a thorough assessment of your bone volume, gum health, and overall oral health. We’ll outline the full treatment process, timeline, and expected costs clearly before treatment begins.
Bone Grafting (If Needed).
If the implant site lacks sufficient bone volume, a bone graft is placed to build additional support for the implant. Bone grafts require a healing period of 3-6 months before implant placement can proceed. Not every patient needs a graft — we'll assess this at your consultation.
Implant Placement.
The implant — a small titanium post — is carefully placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. The gum tissue is sutured closed over or around the implant, and the healing process begins.
Osseointegration.
Over the next 3-6 months, the implant gradually bonds with the surrounding bone, creating the stability implants are known for. Temporary replacement options are often available during healing so you are not left without a tooth.
Crown Placement.
The final crown is custom-designed to blend naturally with your surrounding teeth while restoring comfortable function and appearance.
