Modern Imaging for Better Diagnosis
Digital X-rays are the current standard in dental imaging — and for good reason. Unlike traditional film X-rays, digital radiography uses electronic sensors to capture highly detailed images of your teeth, roots, jawbone, and surrounding structures in a matter of seconds.
The images are displayed instantly on a chairside screen, allowing us to review your results with you in real time, zoom in on areas of concern, and help patients better understand what we’re seeing clinically. Digital imaging also allows for faster image review and more efficient communication during your visit.

What We Can See That We Can't See Otherwise
- Cavities forming between teeth or beneath existing fillings
- Bone loss associated with gum disease
- Infections or abscesses at the root of a tooth
- Impacted or unerupted teeth
- Certain abnormalities or changes within the teeth and surrounding structures
- Changes in bone density over time
- The position of tooth roots prior to extractions or implant placement
Safety & Radiation
One of the most common questions we hear is about radiation exposure. It's a fair concern — and the answer is reassuring.
Digital X-rays generally expose patients to significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays, while still providing detailed diagnostic information when clinically appropriate. Radiation exposure from dental X-rays is generally considered very low, especially when modern digital imaging systems are used appropriately.
We also take X-rays only when clinically necessary based on clinical findings, dental history, risk factors, and diagnostic needs. Patient safety and appropriate diagnostic care are always important priorities in our office.
How Often Do You Need X-Rays?
We tailor our X-ray recommendations to each individual patient based on their age, oral health history, and risk factors — rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
For new patients, a full set of X-rays gives us the baseline we need to properly evaluate your oral health. After that, many patients benefit from periodic bitewing and panoramic X-rays depending on their oral health history and clinical needs. If we're monitoring a specific issue or planning treatment, we may recommend additional imaging as needed.
Insurance & Membership Information
For new patients, a full set of X-rays is included as part of your first visit — particularly for TRU Club™ members, whose new patient appointment covers a complete set of full mouth X-rays including a Panoramic X-ray, all bundled into one simple visit.
We are in-network with Delta Dental and will help patients utilize available out-of-network benefits whenever applicable.
